Ward A7 - Medicine for Older People


General introduction

Ward A7 is part of the Department of Medicine for Older People.

The ward can provide 34 beds - four six bed bays, one four bed bay and six cubicles for patients presenting to hospital with a frailty syndrome.

How to access this service

The ward accepts patients presenting to hospital with a frailty syndrome including falls, immobility, delirium, incontinence, side effects of medications and those aged over 65 with a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of four and above.

About the team

The team consists of a ward manager, four band 6 charge nurses, 17 band 5 registered nurses, one band 4 nurse associate, 18 band 2 healthcare assistants, plus a ward clerk, housekeeper and three domestics.

The discharge nurse manager supports the team with discharges ensuring patients are sent home or to a care home in a safe and effective transfer of care.
