Women and Men’s Health Physiotherapy

General introduction

We are a dedicated team of specialist physiotherapists providing care for women and men for a range of conditions including, but not limited to, urological conditions, bowel dysfunction, a range of pregnancy and birth related musculoskeletal conditions, breast cancer rehabilitation, and postnatal rehabilitation.

We are also part of nationwide programme to expand access to perinatal pelvic health services. This is to ensure all patients during pregnancy and up to 18 months post-natally (occurring after birth) can access physiotherapy support with our service, if required.

Common conditions treated by our physiotherapy team include:

  • pregnancy related musculoskeletal conditions including abdominal weakness, unresolved abdominal muscle separation, back pain and pelvic girdle pain
  • urinary incontinence
  • overactive bladder
  • pelvic organ prolapse
  • pain during or after intercourse
  • faecal and flatus incontinence
  • bowel dysfunction
  • post-breast surgery rehabilitation - for women and men with ongoing arm and shoulder dysfunction / pain after breast cancer surgery
