Hospital shuttle bus

We operate a regular free shuttle bus service between Warrington Hospital and Halton Hospital. Whilst at the Halton Hospital site, the shuttle bus will call at both the Nightingale Building and the Captain Sir Tom Moore Building.

The bus runs seven days a week.

Please note, whilst operating at Halton Hospital, Nightingale Building, the shuttle bus runs Monday to Friday, from Entrance 1. At the weekends and bank holidays it will operate from Entrance 2, which is situated at the rear of the Nightingale Building near to Runcorn Urgent Treatment Centre.

Who can use the bus?

The popular service helps people get to their appointments free of charge - as well as providing transport for staff between the sites. People visiting relatives in hospital can also use the bus. Our bus has full wheelchair and disabled access.

Patients and visitors boarding the bus may be asked for the purpose of their journey that day. Please show the top of your clinic letter to the driver. If you are visiting a patient, please ask on the ward for a confirmation slip for your return journey. We unfortunately have to ask due to an increase in users of the bus using it as free transportation to and from Warrington / Halton without using Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust services.

Where do you get the bus from?

Halton Hospital

The shuttle bus runs from outside the main entrance (Entrance 1) on Hospital Way at The Nightingale Building from Monday to Friday.

At weekends and bank holidays the shuttle bus runs from Entrance 2, which is situated at the rear of The Nightingale Building near to Runcorn Urgent Treatment Centre.

A couple of minutes after departing from either bus stop at The Nightingale Building, it then makes a stop at the Captain Sir Tom Moore Building (apart from the 6.35am departure).

We would recommend you being at the Captain Sir Tom Moore Building the same time as the departure time for the Nightingale Building entrance, as it will only take the bus a minute or two to arrive there, depending on the number of people alighting and boarding.

Warrington Hospital

The shuttle bus runs from the bus stop on site near the main entrance of Warrington Hospital.

The journey takes around 25 minutes between sites, but this can be delayed due to traffic. Please be aware that the bus can be busy at visiting times.
